Organized hockey for our youngest members. Mite hockey is broken down further to 6U and a 8U age groups. This is a predominately an in-house program that allows for three ice touches a week where the only focus is teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, coachability, and FUN.

Ages

This program is typically for ages 5-8. Exceptions can be made for younger skaters who are ready for 6U hockey.

Families residing in the Appleton, Hilbert, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Wrightstown, and Freedom school districts are welcome.

When

Season begins in October and finishes in late February with our Monsters on Ice Festival.


Practices

Two practices per week on weeknights. Practices are scheduled from 5-6 PM or 6-7 PM

Practices will be held at Appleton Family Ice Center

Games

Typically one game per week, will be scheduled on Friday evening or Saturday morning at Appleton Family Ice Area.

6U will play 1/3 ice games with mini nets and no goalies.

8U will play 1/2 ice games with full size nets and goalies.

Additional games will scheduled for 2-3 tournaments/jamborees.

Season will conclude with hosting Monsters on Ice Mite Jamboree.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are teams made? 

Teams within each level are balanced to ensure competitive and fun play.  The number of teams at each level will be based on player registration numbers.



Does mites or 8U level have goalies?

At the 8U/Mite level, we will not have full-time goalies. The goalie position will be rotated through the roster on a weekly basis. We encourage the kids who are interested in goaltending to participate both as a skater and a goalie.



What is the difference between Blue, White and Red?

-Blue mites are typically 2nd year players that have gone through the LTP program.

-White mites are typically 2nd-3rd year players

-Red mites are typically last year mite players.
